H. B. 2690
(By Delegate Brown)
[Introduced March 24, 1993; referred to the
Committee on Government Organization then Finance.]
A BILL to repeal sections seven and fourteen, article one-a,
chapter forty-seven of the code of West Virginia, one
thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to
registration by sellers of bedding or filling material and
annual registration fees.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 1A. REGULATION AND CONTROL OF BEDDING AND UPHOLSTERY
BUSINESSES.
§1. Repeal of sections relating to registration by sellers of
bedding or filling material and annual registration fees.
Sections seven and fourteen, article one-a, chapter forty-
seven of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred
thirty-one, as amended, are hereby repealed.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to eliminate the annual
registration requirement and the applicable fees. This bill
would cause the loss of approximately $46,700 to the general
revenue fund, but would provide relief to about 1,000 businessescurrently conducting business under the provisions of this
article. Registration with the state has become unnecessary
because federal regulations are now in effect to adequately
protect the consumer.
